 New server/banner ads/charity by Rupe

this is story 20 of 64 in this topic to date
There are still some minor glitches being reported (thanks everyone) but the new server seems to be operating well now. Thanks for your patience.

Huge thanks to all our regular readers for all your help and support over the years, and also of course to those who've come to us more recently. I hope that you'll continue to find ArseWeb useful and fun (and let us know if there's anything you'd like to change). But the biggest thanks goes to the excellent team that keep the newsreel up-to-date, and everyone else who regularly posts information to me (including some who prefer to remain anonymous).

We do hope that the ad banners aren't too much of a pain. They make a big difference, providing the money to keep the site going plus enough to be able to make a sizable contribution to charity.

The first charity wedge will be going out soon, and I'll post details here when it does. At least some of it will be going to a charity for young people with terminal diseases, set up by Bob Wilson following the death of his daughter last year.

You can help ArseWeb raise more money very easily. Although we get paid per displayed ad (rather than by click-through), the number of paid ads that gets displayed does depend on the click-through rate. So by clicking on an ad and letting the page load you will be helping us out, even if you do it just once. Of course, we insist that you read the page loaded and consider buying whatever they're offering (rather than just letting the page load in the background and then closing it).

cheers,

Rupe.
