Arsenal Ladies failed to halt the football juggernaut that is the Shanghai Ladies side currently rampaging through Europe. But they came mighty close.
Shanghai had beaten two German sides 39-0 and 24-0, followed by a 17-0 defeat of a Bristol side - leading Arseweb to wonder if we hadn't managed to arrange a basketball game by mistake. But no, soccer it was.
Both teams were brilliant throughout the game, with the Chinese just that little bit better - and winning 2:1. But that's no disgrace whatsoever. At least we kept the Chinese down to single figures. At least we scored!
