Arsenal Ladies drew 1-1 with Charlton Ladies (who used to be Croydon) in the women's football equivalent to the Charity Shield. Player of the match, Arsenal's Marianne Spacey, scored in the 20th minute from a spectacular volley, but Charlton equalised just a few minutes from time. There was no extra time played or penalties missed, instead the trophy will be shared over the coming 12 months.
