Arsenal Ladies as holders of the League Cup face their first match this Sunday (24th September) in the quest to retain it. The match is against Sunderland Ladies at Durham City's ground of New Ferens Park with a 12 noon kick-off. Arsenal Ladies have already beaten Sunderland 6-0 in the Premiership at Potters Bar earlier this season. If you're lucky enough to find yourself travelling up the A1(M) and fancy a lunchtime break then to get to the ground leave at Junction 62 and join the A690 to Durham. Get off at the slip road signed Belmont Industrial Estate and then apparently the ground should be on your left!
Bizarrely this is Sunderland Ladies first home game of the season with previously scheduled games having been cancelled - Charlton Ladies was cancelled because of problems with the name change from Croydon - Barry Town was cancelled because half of their squad were playing for Wales on the same day and recently Southampton was cancelled because of the fuel crisis.
