England Ladies are currently on their way to the Ukraine for the first leg of the play-off to decide who goes to the Ladies European Championships in 2001. The host nation for which is decided amongst those who qualify. England Ladies finished second in their group out of four with the Ukraine Ladies finishing third in their group out of four. The play-off rules are that the second place team play against a third place team from another group!
The match is this coming Monday 30th October with a bizarre 12 noon kick-off which means there is no Arsenal Ladies Premiership games this weekend.
Arsenal Ladies next scheduled game is at "home" (!!) in the second round of the League Cup against Southampton Saints on November 5th.
The second leg of the England versus Ukraine play-off is at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road / Matchroom Stadium ground on Tuesday November 28th with a 7:45pm kick-off.
Arsenal are once again represented in the England Squad by Marieanne Spacey, Fay White and Angela Banks. I wonder if they've been talking to Oleg...........
However a quick peep at the BBC Sports News site shows me that they are using the same hotel that Manchester United use when in Kiev. Mmmmmmmm......(perhaps it's the only hotel?)
