Even though the finals of the Ladies European Championships have yet to be played the draw for the Ladies World Cup 2003 in China qualifiers has been done. England are seeded second in a group that contains Germany (oh no - not in the Ladies World Cup group as well I hear you say!) who are top seeds, Portugal and Holland.
There are four groups of four - the top team in each group automatically qualifies and the fifth spot for Europe is determined by the runners-up of each group playing in a semi-final (home and away) type play-off with the winners of each semi-final then facing each other in a final (home and away) play-off. So to get the fifth spot a team would have had to have played 10 games compared to 6 for the other four teams. |
