James Harper, who had such an eventful time for Cardiff at the weekend (see this article), has returned to Arsenal from his loan. It is being reported that Harper rejected a £250,000 move.
Cardiff manager Alan Cork said "The lad wants to keep his
options open. We are disappointed to
lose him after he only played three
games for us but the deal is now dead.
We will keep an eye on him, who
knows, something could happen in the
future."
There are rumours that QPR and/or Norwich City have been keeping an eye on him too.
Meanwhile Northampton Town, who were impressed by Liam Chilvers
in his month long spell (just ended) have now taken
another young gun defender. Lee Canoville has joined them for a month (see AFCi announcement). The official Northampton Town website quotes Canoville as saying "I hope I can do as well here as Liam
Chilvers. I wanted first team experience and as soon as I knew of Northampton's interest in me things
moved very quickly. Liam told me about his time at Northampton, how well he was treated and what a
good set up it is here. Since arriving I've been very impressed with the club. I hope to do well for
Northampton over the next month and we'll take it from there.".
Town boss Kevin Wilson says, "Lee is a good athlete. He's 6ft plus and works hard with good pace. It's
a big compliment to us that Arsenal trust us with their younger players. They respected the way we
helped Liam and they were keen for Lee to come here. He can play in a number of positions, and he
gives us good options. "
