The final score from the Ladies League Cup quarter-final:
Doncaster Belles - 1 Arsenal Ladies - 2
The current League Cup holders - Arsenal Ladies carry on their winning ways and indeed the Ladies treble is still on. Arsenal took the lead just before half time when a curling free kick from Marieanne Spacey was met by the head of midfielder Ciara Grant. The score was doubled in the 75th minute by Spacey who went on a mazy run past two Doncaster Belles defenders before shooting past their goalkeeper. A few minutes later the Belles scored from a penalty making it a tense last ten minutes but the Ladies held on thus eliminating the Belles from two different cups in successive games.
Here's hoping it will be the same in the upcoming League games!
Meanwhile Arsenal Ladies will face the winners of Barnet and Charlton in the semi-final. Indeed because the League Cup is running later than scheduled we already know that the other finalists are Tranmere who beat Millwall in their semi-final. |
