This Sunday, April 1st (no fooling around now please) the current League Cup holders Arsenal Ladies travel to the neutral ground of Chester to play Tranmere Rovers in the League Cup Final. Yes we do realise that Chester is only down the road from Tranmere but these cup finals have a habit of being held in the north one year and in the south the next year and so on (Last years was at Barnet although admittedly it was two London teams - Arsenal versus Croydon in the final. We think the one the year before that was Arsenal v Everton at Tranmere).
There is a coach being laid on which leaves Avenell Road outside the Arsenal ground at 8:30am on the Sunday arriving back at approx 9pm. For further information and to book seats contact Clare Wheatley or Ciara Grant on 0207-704-4149.
For the independant traveller Chester play at the Deva Stadium, Bumpers Lane in Chester. The following is not necessarily the direct route but should be the quickest -
From London make your way onto the M6 (either via the M25/M1 or M25/M40/M42/M5), exit at Junction 20 heading west on the M56 right to the end at Junction 16. Follow the signs to North Wales on the A5117. Turn left onto A550. Turn onto A548 towards Chester. This should be the Sealand Road, head straight through the first set of lights and after half a mile turn right at the next set. This is now Bumpers Lane and the ground is on the right at the end of this road.
Kick-off is at 2:30pm and it's £3 for adults with £1 for concessions. Those on the coach will find that the coach fare includes entrance to the game and also free entrance to the Ladies FA Cup Final on May 7th.
This could be the start of four possible trophies (League Cup, FA Cup, London County Cup and Premiership) for our Ladies.
