Youths through in Hong Kong Sevens by Rupe

An Arsenal Youth team is in Hong Kong playing in a 7-a-side competition. See here for announcement (and note that Gus Caesar is not in any of the teams that Arsenal are playing).

On the first day, Arsenal won 2 of their group games 1-0, against Bexton (from England) thanks to an own goal, and against Yau Yee League Select (from Hong Kong) with a goal from Bentley. Yee Hope, another Hong Kong team, managed a goalless draw with the Gunners.

Arsenal are finding it hard to adapt to the conditions (heat and bad pitch), and will have to improve somewhat to come through Sunday's final stages as Celtic and Villa are both playing well.

See Soccer7s site for tournament schedule, although it doesn't have the results yet. So thanks go to Dennis Lee for the info.

And also to Polly Mok for the following updates.

The Arsenal squad is confirmed as:

1. Stack
2. Chilvers
3. Chorley
4. Sidwell
5. Brown
6. Thomas
7. Kuffour
8. Nicolau
9. Santry
10. Bentley
Thomas played really well according to both Polly and Dennis, and he set up the goal for Bentley against Yau Yee.

Also, Liam Brady was featured in the master league tournament in this event, and his team, Lorenz All Stars has stuffed a team called Isleworth by 7:0. Anyone got any reports of how Brady's playing? Now there's a left foot that would have provided a partner for Paddy...
