Hannah Ljungberg of Sweden scored one of the goals as England Ladies lost 4-0 to Sweden Ladies in the Ladies European Championships this afternoon.
Arsenal Ladies Angela Banks played until the 71st minute when she left the pitch injured and Marieanne Spacey came on in the 64th minute.
England's final game is against Germany on Saturday 30th with a 2:10pm kickoff and is being shown delayed live on British Eurosport at 4:30pm. Arseweb will not publish the score until after Eurosport's transmission has finished though you may be able to get it from other sites. However it probably won't mean much as Germany beat Russia 5-0 earlier today and it looks like Germany and Sweden will get the top two places unless something bizarre occurs.
Mark also asked: Anybody know if Hannah Ljungberg is related to our Freddie or is "Ljungberg" a popular surname in Sweden - just like our "Smith"???.
and Rupe adds: Thanks to the many Swedish Gooners who responded. Although there's some disagreement about how common a name Ljungberg is,
everyone agrees that Hannah and Freddie are not related.
She is from the north of Sweden, he is from the south. Swedish tabloids have apparently been trying to get some mileage out of the fact that
these stars of their 2 national teams share a surname, but
their made-up tales focus on imagined love affairs more than
long-lost siblings.
