Arsenal will be represented with one player at the UEFA U18 championships. Defender Sebastian Svärd has been selected in the Danish squad.

Denmark will compete against Belgium, the Czech Republic, hosts Finland, Poland, Spain, Ukraine and Yugoslavia. The championship is staged from 21 to 29 July.

Lucas Manley writes to point out that Svard's name appears to have been removed from the AFCi squad lists. Mind you, we can't remember whether he was on the main list or the reserves list, and it could just be that he's in some kind of list limbo. It's not clear where his name ought to appear, given that he's not played for the first team, but was in last years Champs League squad.

Barrie Whipp suggests a highly plausible answer. Svard's number last season was 49. So perhaps he's just fallen off the bottom of the second page. Look out for his reappearance when someone gets sold.
