Arsenal Ladies have won the first of the trophies on offer this season with an emphatic 5-2 win over nearest rivals Doncaster Belles in this years Womens Charity Shield. Arsenals scorers in the game played at Kingstonian were Ciara Grant, Jayne Ludlow x 2, Marieanne Spacey and Angela Banks.
Sadly Clare Wheatley was stretchered off just before half time and looks like missing most of the season with ligament damage.
The Ladies take on Leeds Ladies away next Sunday in the first game in the Premiership before facing the 'Belles again at Borehamwood on Sunday August 26th. Leeds have just been promoted from the Northern Division and last season Arsenal Ladies beat them 5-3 in one of the earlier rounds of the FA Cup.
