Final score from Borehamwood:
Arsenal Ladies - 4 Doncaster Belles - 1
A weakened Arsenal Ladies team that was missing leading goalscorer Angela Banks (shin) and midfield maestro Clare Wheatley (knee) still managed to beat rivals Doncaster Belles. A Beckham-esque free-kick from Marieanne Spacey started the scoring with the 'Belles equalising not long afterwards. However the second half belonged to Arsenal Ladies with further goals coming from the whippet-like Ellen Maggs, a header from Ciara Grant and another goal from Spacey.
Charlton Ladies currently top the Ladies Premiership on goal difference from Arsenal.
The next Ladies game is again at home (Borehamwood) on Sunday September 2nd with a 2pm kick-off against the Southampton Saints who have recently obtained ex-Arsenal defender Carol Harwood. |
