Arsenal Ladies travel to Heswall FC this Sunday to take on Tranmere Rovers Ladies. However they will be without the Irish trio of Emma Byrne, Ciara Grant and Yvonne Tracey who are representing Ireland Ladies in matches against Yugoslavia and Moldova.
Under normal circumstances the game this Sunday would have been postponed as they are when one goalkeeper and/or two outfield players are on international duty. However this season for the Ladies our English FA have decreed that this can only apply for England call-ups. Not Irish, not Scottish and not Welsh - only England!
This ruling gets even worse as one of the English Ladies Premiership teams is Barry Town who of course come from Wales and have five players who are Welsh internationals! What happens when a Wales game clashes with a Barry Town Premiership game then (and before you ask - Barry Town haven't even got a reserve side)?
