Arsenal Ladies travel to Bern in Switzerland next week to play their three games in the group phase of the inaugural Ladies European Cup. They are against Bern on Monday October 1st, Tel-Aviv on Wednesday October 3rd and Wroclaw on Friday October 5th. The winner of each group goes into the quarter-finals being played in March next year.
Bern haven't had a particularly good start to the Swiss season - 9 points from 4 games, but only 4th place. They are however the "Arsenal" of Switzerland - winning 5 of the last 7 championships.
Wroclaw won last year's Polish championship, but they haven't shown much previous form and Poland are a Class B UEFA nation with regards to Ladies football.
We don't know much about Tel Aviv as the Israeli league only started in 1998. Israel are also a Class B nation.
Arseweb will endeavour to post the results of each game as we receive them from our contact in Bern.
(Many thanks to Andrew Drake of "She Kicks" for providing the information on the other teams)
