Arsenal Ladies will become a semi-professional outfit at the start of the next season. David Dein has found some money in the coffers so that the Ladies receive financial recognition for their exploits. This would mean at least a third day of training as well as working from home. Hopefully this will also reduce the gap between Arsenal and the total professional outfit of Fulham who have been promoted to the Premiership and will probably start as favourites.
This has also meant that Angela Banks will stay with Arsenal - she had been approached by Fulham who needed a top striker following the decision of Marieanne Petterson to return to Norway.
There is also confusion over Arsenal's own Marieanne (Spacey) who may well be delaying her retirement. Vic Akers was overheard saying "It's a Tony Adams situation".
Meanwhile the Ladies travel to the US of A in June to take part in the first ever Womens Trans-Atlantic Challenge where they will face the San Jose CyberRays who won the inaugural season of the equivalent Ladies Premiership in America. The match will take place at the Broken Arrow High School Stadium, Tulsa, Oklahoma with an 8pm kickoff (Arseweb are not sure whether that's local time or UK time?)
