Fulham poach a Gunner by Rupe

No, it's not Inamoto. Not yet, anyway.

It's come to our attention that Arsenal Ladies and retired England star Marieanne Spacey (arguably the biggest name in Women's football in this country), is about to move south of the river to Fulham.

Spacey is expected to retire after the coming season. Although she'll be sorely missed by the Gunners, one has to appreciate the unfortunate timing of her superb career.

She's been at the top of the sport for ages, but money is coming into the ladies game for the first time just as she's coming to the end of the career. Arsenal will go fully professional soon, but as things stand Fulham are the only club likely to offer her a financially rewarding final season.

So it's the Ladies football equivalent of a final fling in Japan. Which brings us neatly back to Ina. Fulham are said to be one of several teams wanting to sign the Japan star in the wake of his great performances at the World Cup. It's even being reported that Jean Tigana has offered Ina a guaranteed place in his starting line-up. But that has to be nonsense, surely?
