Fulham's professional Ladies outfit beat Arsenal Ladies semi-pros in a penalty shootout last night when the final score after 90 minutes in the Community Shield was 2-2. Both of Arsenal's goals were scored by tiny striker Ellen Maggs - one of them being a header.
Top striker Angie Banks was missing on holiday (rumours are that the Ladies Community Shield was to have been a starter / pudding on Sunday at Cardiff before / after the mens one and so Angie based her holiday around that before learning that the venue and date had been changed). However Arsenal did sign new striker Ayshea Martyn yesterday from the now defunct Barry Town Ladies in time to play a part in last nights game.
The Ladies themselves have delayed their start to the Premiership campaign (because two Arsenal players are in the England U19's who are playing in a world tournament in Canada) and the first game now will be at home at St. Albans against Tranmere on September 1st.
