The Arsenal Ladies have recently announced that they are being sponsored by their respective male counterparts. This means that David Seaman is sponsoring Emma Byrne, Patrick Vieira is sponsering Ciara Grant and Ashley Cole is sponsering Claire Wheatley. It also transpires that Freddie Ljungberg is sponsoring Jayne Ludlow. The elder readers of Arseweb will remember back in their youth the cult childrens television programme Rainbow and would wonder if a "Rod" will fit in this anywhere.

Meanwhile the Arsenal Ladies finally kick-off their Premiership campaign tommorrow night (Saturday 31st) against Tranmere Rovers with a 6pm start at St. Albans. Rivals Fulham have already scored maximum points from their opening two games away to Doncaster Belles and home to Everton so Arsenal Ladies will need to win against Tranmere to keep the pressure on Fulham early in the season.
