Arsenal Ladies lost in a penalty shoot-out against Fulham Ladies in last Sunday's League Cup Final at Swindon. The score at the end of normal time was 1-1. Ex-gooner (but still gooner supporter) Rachel Yankey put Fulham ahead with minutes to spare but Ciara Grant equalised with seconds to spare to send the game into extra time. Extra time couldn't decide the teams and it went to a penalty shoot-out decided eventually by a winning sudden death penalty by Fulham.
In an interesting development at Fulham following their move back to a semi-professional outfit ex-gooner legend Marieanne Spacey has become Fulham Ladies manager from next season when current manager Gaute Haugenes goes back to his native Scandanavia at the end of this season.
Meanwhile the Arsenal Ladies are currently in Fortuna Hjjoring ahead of tommorrows away first leg of the Ladies UEFA Cup Semi-Final. |
