FA Premier Reserve League South, Mon 15 March 2004
Tottenham Hotspur 0 Arsenal 2
Scorers: Birchall 40, 59
Victory against the local enemy at Stevenage last night gave the Arsenal reserves their 3rd successive win and lifts them to 6th in the table. Tottenham included former Gunners Ricketts and O'Hara, but couldn't find a way past Stuart Taylor, one of only 3 Arsenal players ineligible for one or other of the youth teams. See this Spurs site report, or the Arsenal.com report for more details. Check also the ArseWeb reserve team page for the updated table, and full stats of the reserve team's season.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, the Arsenal under-19 team made sure of qualifying for the national semi-final playoffs by beating West Ham 3-1. The young Gunners now lead their regional league by 15 points with their closest challengers having only 3 or 4 games left. The under-17s drew 1-1 with Charlton on Sat and are now left with only the slimmest hope of qualifying for the final 8 playoffs. Check the ArseWeb youth team page for tables and further stats.
