It's rather tight at the top of the Ladies Premiership with any one of three teams from Arsenal, Charlton and Fulham that could win the title in the last few games. Indeed Arsenal Ladies did themselves a huge favour last Thursday when a solitary Julie Fleeting goal enabled our Ladies to beat current leaders Charlton at Borehamwood. Yesterday an 8-0 defeat of relegated Aston Villa at St. Albans made the goal difference even better - goals came from hat-trick from Fleeting, a brace from Ciara Grant and one apiece for Ellen Maggs, Jayne Freddie Ludlow and Jo Potter.
With Charlton winning their final game of the Ladies Premiership 1-0 away at Leeds and Fulham winning 3-2 at Doncaster Belles the table currently looks like this:
Charlton - played 18 - points 46 (Goal Diff 35)
Arsenal - played 17 - points 44 (Goal Diff 52)
Fulham - played 16 - points 41 (Goal Diff 41)
With Fulham having to play Birmingham at home it could be that Arsenal and Fulham end up on the same points with one game left each to play - now just what is that one game - yep its Arsenal v Fulham on a date yet to be arranged. Therefore a draw would or could be of no use and Charlton win the Premiership but a win for either Arsenal or Fulham would mean they would become the Premiership winners.
