FA Premier Reserve League South, Mon 19 September 2004
Arsenal 4 Coventry City 0
Scorers: Flamini 45, Owusu-Abeyi 53, van Persie 58,80
A somewhat unusual Arsenal reserve team recorded a comfortable victory against Coventry at Underhill last night, their third win in 3 games sending the young Gunners to the top of the table with a total goal tally of 12-0.
Sol Campbell apparently came through his first competitive game of the season, and seven other first team squad members started the game, but Campbell and Taylor were nonetheless the only players over 22 in the team. See reports on Arsenal.com, ArsenalLand and this Coventry site for more details.

Rupe adds...
Arsene Wenger has admitted that, although he doesn't want to rush the player back, Sol may be considered for the Man City game at the weekend. "I'll leave him the needed time. It could be very short because he has been working very hard. I just want to see how well he reacts now, that is why it is very hard to predict. But I could consider him for the next game because we need defensive stability and of course he can help us. " |
