Arsenal Ladies have overcome a 2-0 deficit and beat Torres Terra Sarda by 4-1 at Borehamwood this evening. Arsenal are now through to the semi-finals of the Ladies UEFA Cup having won the tie on aggregate by 4-3.
A double by Angela Banks set the Ladies on their way before Torres got a vital away goal. Jayne "Freddie" Ludlow made it 3-1 but another goal was still needed which came from Julie Fleeting. There was still time however for Torres to get another vital away goal (and Torres would have gone through on away goals)but Emma Byrne made a vital reflex stop just before the final whistle.
The Ladies now face Djurgården/Älvsjö in the two-legged semi-final in April. They have already played Djurgården/Älvsjö in the group section which they won 1-0. |
