Arsenal Ladies won their first piece of silverware this season beating Charlton Athletic Ladies by 4-0 in the Ladies Community Shield last night at Milton Keynes.
Goals came from Ciara Grant who scored from a rebound after her original penalty had been saved. The penalty came about after new girl Rachel McArthur (ex-Fulham and Bristol City) had been fouled. Jayne "Freddie" Ludlow hit a superb brace with Lianne Sanderson also on the scoresheet when her shot was correctly adjudged to have crossed the line.
Arsenal Ladies start the defence of their Premiership crown at newly-promoted Chelsea on Sunday August 14th. Rumours that Roman Abromovich has got his cheque book out and purchased the whole of the Germany Ladies for Chelsea are completely unfounded.
