Arsenal Ladies beat Charlton Ladies by 2-0 last night at Borehamwood which means that the Ladies regain their Premiership title as Charlton, with games in hand, will not be able to catch them up. The goals came from Kelly Smith in the first half and a late goal in the second half from Rachel Yankey MBE. It wasn't all plain sailing though as Emma "Safe-Hands" Byrne in the goal saved a penalty from ex-gooner Casey Stoney when the score was 1-0.
So the Arsenal Ladies win the Premiership for the fifth time in six seasons (the only time they didn't win it was the year Fulham won it when they were "professional"). So a piece of trivia - its Vic Akers (Ladies Manager / Mens Kit Manager) 8th title so does that make him the most successful Arsenal manager?
The Ladies will now feature in two more games this season - on Sunday away to Doncaster Rovers Belles with a 2pm kickoff at Cantley Park, Doncaster and then the Ladies FA Cup final at Millwall on Monday May 1st with a 1pm kickoff against Leeds.
