Arsenal Ladies beat Brondby Ladies 3-0 yesterday at Borehamwood in the Ladies UEFA Cup semi-final second leg and so go through to the final by 5-2 on aggregate. They will be the first British and even English club to play in the final which normally ends up being played between teams from Germany, Sweden or Denmark.
Rachel Yankey opened the scoring in the first half followed by goals from Karen Carney in the second half and then Julie Fleeting in the final minutes following up a Jayne Ludlow shot that rebounded off the bar.
It is likely that Arsenal will face Umea of Sweden in the two-legged final in late April. Umea are currently 5-1 from their first leg with the second leg being played today.
Arsenal Ladies next take the field in the delayed League Cup quarter final game against Nottingham Forest at Borehamwood on November 19th with the winners facing Chelsea in the semis.
