Arsenal have four representatives in the final of the UEFA under-19 championship currently being held in Belgium.
In the semi-finals yesterday, Rhys Murphy, Henri Lansbury and Gavin Hoyte all played as England beat France 1-0. Murphy set up the goal when his header was parried by the keeper into the path of Victor Moses. Lansbury also started the game but was stretchered off early in the second half with concussion. Hoyte came on as a second half substitute following another England injury.
In the second semi-final Fran Mérida played the full 100 minutes for Spain against Belgium. The Spanish got a late equaliser after being reduced to 10 men early in the second half and the game went to penalties after 20 minutes of extra time. Mérida scored Spain's second spot kick as his team finally triumphed 7-6.
The final will be played on Sunday. The other young Gunner involved in the finals is Nacer Barazite, who played all four games, scoring once, for the Netherlands as they finished 3rd in England's group and lost 3-2 to Germany in the 5th-6th playoff yesterday.
