The BBC has, not entirely surprisingly, picked out the Newcastle v Arsenal quarter final for prime-time viewing... to the anger of Arsene Wenger.
The Beeb want to show the game on Saturday evening (Mar 9), with a 5.35pm kickoff. But with Arsenal welcoming Deportivo to Highbury on the Tuesday, Arsene reckons 'it's the worst time for us.'
Instead, Le Boss is keen to move the game to Saturday lunchtime... giving up the £265,000 TV purse. Blimey. We await developments.
The other three games will be on the Sunday - surely that would be worse? - with the Middlesbrough game on the BBC at lunchtime, and Spurs-Chelsea on Sky in the afternoon.
Rupe adds...
The Standard reckon that the Saturday kick-off constitutes a
victory for Wenger, because at first the match looked likely to be on Sunday evening at 7.
