Latest news is that Paddy and Sol are still in doubt. Le Boss
was going to leave it as late as possible before deciding on
their fitness levels. They both looked superhuman on Sunday,
but it might have taken too much out of them.
Seaman Cole and Keown are all out still. Luzhny might be close
to a recall though.
Arsene Wenger has been making it clear that Arsenal do not see this competition as a second-rate one. He wants to win tonight's match very badly. We suspect that this is rather more true now than it would have been if we'd got through to the Champs League quarter-finals! So perhaps we won't see many players rested
tonight. Having said that, the league has gotten close enough that we need the key players fit for that too, so perhaps he'll err on the side of caution with regard to Vieira and Campbell.
Henry wasn't as effective as he can be on Sunday, and personally I wanted very much to see Jeffers come on. There were periods when Arsenal were extremely static in Everton's half. Someone would
have the ball in midfield and no-one else would be making runs
for him. With Jeffers on the pitch you do at least know that someone is going to be moving off the ball.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see Jeffers in for Henry or Bergkamp, and if it happens one shouldn't necessarily see it as a weakness. The same goes for Edu and Parlour, who on recent
showings might be at least as productive as Gilberto and Wiltord (although I accept, as few people have pointed out, that Parlour
did not have a great game against Blackburn).
Chelsea have a full strenght squad available. Emmanuel Petit returns from injury. Desailly has been out too, but did come off the bench in their last match so is a likely starter for this one. |
