Arsenal are likely to start without an English player again for the FA Cup tie against Sheffield United, as Cole, Campbell and Hoyte are all injured. But there will be one on the bench as Stuart Taylor has returned from his loan spell at Leicester and will be on hand in case anything happens to Almunia.
It won't be the same 11 foreigners that played against Palace, though. Edu is also injured, and Henry and Vieira are expected to be rested (the latter is also said to have a minor achilles problem but not enough to stop him playing on Tuesday, we pray...).
But Freddie Ljungberg is expected to return from injury and Dennis Bergkamp will presumably play since Wenger has made it very clear that there's no chance of him going to Munich for Tuesday's Champs League tie. Maybe a double dutch pairing of Dennis and van Persie up front?
The Blades line-up could include former Arsenal man Paul Shaw, who made 12 appearances (11 as sub) before leaving for Millwall in 97. He got a knock in the replay against West Ham last weekend but is expected to be alright - the same goes for the impressive Phil Jagielka. But defender Chris Morgan was sent off in the game against the Irons and is suspended.
Midfielder Kevan Hurst has left for Stockport on loan (but has only made 3 sub appearances this season). United are in the process of trying to sign Ade Akinbayi on loan from Stoke, but of course he wouldn't have been able to play anyway. |
