As reported the other day, Henry and Edu miss today's FA Cup quarter-final with injuries picked up in midweek. Henry is out for 2 to 3 weeks.
Pires was apparently left on the bench to start with on Wednesday because he was considered not quite fully fit. But he made such a difference when he came on that he might be given the nod at the Reebok. Wenger said on Firday that he wasn't sure yet to what extent Bobby would be involved. Gilberto isn't fit yet and was only on the bench against Bayern because of the lack of cover at centre-back. He's unlikely to be used in this way against Bolton, but may well play for the reserves on Monday. Campbell and Cygan are both still out so it'll be Senderos and Toure again. Hoyte, another possibility in central defence, is also out injured.
Not sure about goalkeeper. Assuming Almunia's injured still, I was thinking it's possible that Stuart Taylor would get a game. It's normally Wenger's policy to use his second choice keeper in the cup so will he use his 1st or 3rd choice in the enforced absence of the 2nd? Well, according to the official site's preview it's gonna be Lehmann. He also says that Eboue will be on the bench (see Lauren starts).
Wenger stopped short of saying he'll play the strongest possible side, instead opting for the vacuous "It will be a side that has a good chance to qualify". After Wednesday, many Arsenal fans are thinking that this does not include Jose Antonio Reyes. But we're also not quite convinced by van Persie. Bergkamp and Quincy perhaps?
Bolton will probably be missing Jay Jay Okocha through a hamstring injury and will probably use Gary Speed in his place. Okocha will have a late fitness test but isn't expected to make it. They'll have Diouf and either Pedersen or Davies up front. Nicky Hunt has recovered from a dislocated shoulder suffered in the defeat at Newcastle - their first defeat in 12 matches.
Away to Bolton was a very very tough draw. This will be one hell of a test of this Arsenal team's character, following the midweek disappointment. |
