Well, that was almost as predictable as getting Bolton in the 4th round, or as
the fact that they got a draw with us yesterday. Arsenal will play Blackburn Rovers
in the 5th round of the FA Cup if, and it's a big if, we can get through
the tricky replay away at Bolton Wanderers on the 14th February.
Both sides remain in today's 5th round draw thanks to
that exciting but
frustrating draw at Ashburton Grove yesterday afternoon. The replay will be shown live on BBC1, but it does mean
that the home game with Manchester City, already moved once because of the delays in the
League Cup, has now been postponed again, with no date set.
Anyway, here's the 5th round draw in full:
Arsenal OR Bolton vs Blackburn Rovers
Chelsea vs Blackpool or Norwich
Watford vs Ipswich
Preston NE vs Manchester City
Plymouth Argyle vs Derby County
Manchester_Utd vs Reading
Fulham vs Tottenham
Bristol City OR
Middlesbrough vs West Brom
The good news is that we're at home, and that having beaten them twice already
this season, 6-2 at home
and then 2-0 at their place
(with 10 men), we'd be strong favourites to progress (and I repeat, if we get past Bolton).
The matches are scheduled for the weekend of 17th/18th February. Seems like there's a good chance we'd be
picked for TV again if we're in the tie,
which would make it eleven in a row.
But maybe not. Presumably they'll have to decide before the replay's played, and no-one's
going to want to watch Bolton vs Blackburn.
Tie of the round? There isn't one really, is there? I guess Fulham vs Tottenham
looks hardest to call.
