Referee Elleray defends decision by Jon
on 12/4/99 at 14:17
this is story 44 of 201 in this topic to date

Semi final referee David Elleray defends his
controversial decision to disallow Roy Keane's "goal".

Any blame is put on the referee's assistant, as Elleray
said to Sky Sports: "I acted exactly on what my assistant
told me. I haven't seen any video replay or anything.
He told me that there was an offside in the build-up
to the goal and I have to accept his view."

Elleray says to Sporting Life that he looks forward to the
replay
, and that the same four officials will be in charge
of that game.
