The FA have offered Manchester United the chance to withdraw from
this season's FA Cup in order that they can participate in the inaugural
World club championships taking place in Brasil in January. United are expected to respond tomorrow.
The move has drawn criticism from many quarters, purists saying
it cheapens the competition and bookies that it reduces their profits. But Arsenal's Vice-chairman David Dein presumably approves, having been on the unanimous FA executive that made the decision.

How long before the runners-up in the Euro competitions get
invited along to the world championships too?
Is the time coming where clubs can pick and choose what competitions they wish to enter?
Well, at least it makes a change from wondering what Anelka's playing at.
