Arsenal got a plum tie in this afternoon's draw for the 3rd
round of the FA Cup, with second division strugglers Blackpool
having to visit Highbury on December 11th or 12th.
Vice-Chairman David Dein commented on telly afterwards that
there are no easy ties (except Middlesbrough, obviously),
but that he was particularly pleased to be drawn at home given
the fact that we're playing away in France on the Thursday
beforehand. We don't expect the match to be televised, but it
wouldn't be surprising to see it played on the Sunday rather than the Saturday, because of the UEFA Cup tie.
Favourite for live transmission must be the match at White Hart Lane, where Newcastle will beat Tottenham in a repeat of
last year's semi-final.
