Last night Leicester City scraped past Hereford in their
3rd round FA Cup replay at Filbert Street, thanks to an extra-time goal from Muzzy Izzet. Thus the Foxes
booked their place at Highbury on Sunday January 9th for
ITV's live 4th round match.
Although we might have liked to have only Hereford between us
and the 5th round, it's good news for Clock End season-ticket holders. Unlike Hereford, Leicester have not requested the whole
of that end (less fans, presumably) so we won't be uprooted to the North Stand.
The fact that Leicester needed 2 whole games, plus some, to get past a non-league outfit might make some Gooners feel confident about
our place in the 5th round, but it's worth remembering that
Leicester have been having a good season overall. They're still in the Worthington Cup (practically favourites for it, too) and are a respectable 6th in the Premiership.
In 7th place are Tottenham, still in contention for a UEFA Cup
place (technically, anyway) but now facing up to the fact of
a trophyless season thanks to a 6-1 4th round trouncing at St James's
Park (and the 1 was helped in by a deflection). George Graham's
defensive nous appeared to have deserted him. At ArseWeb we're
not sure about starting the FA Cup in December, but in it's
favour is the fact that Tottenham's season is to all
intents and purposes over, and it's not even Christmas yet.
