According to SportLive, Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has said that the club will not risk
playing Kanu in the FA Cup tie against Leicester on Sunday
if there is any chance of it resulting in the "doomsday scenario" of our being expelled from the competition.
But he confirms that talks with the Nigerians are ongoing,
and expresses the opinion that there have been crossed wires.
Soccernet echo this, saying that a deal has been proposed
involving Kanu flying out immediately after Sunday's game.
Perhaps a helicopter could come and lift him off the pitch.
FIFA have said that, contrary to some reports, they have not
received a formal complaint from Nigeria. But all the reports
from the Nigerian camp agree that they are mightily p*ssed off
with the situation. It would appear that the only hope
we have is that their desire to keep Kanu himself happy will
come to bear.
