"I love Thierry Henry", admits woody Woodgate by Rupe

this is story 103 of 104 in this topic to date
The football world has been stunned by Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate's admission of his love for Arsenal skipper and record goalscorer Thierry Henry.

Well, it might as well have been.

They way I see it, if the Sun can get away with the headline 'We will destroy you, Arsenal!' why shouldn't we go a bit further and make it really juicy?

The red-top comic (I refuse to use the word 'newspaper') start their story with,

'JONATHAN WOODGATE has fired a devastating warning to Arsenal by insisting: "We'll destroy you!"'.

But let's look at what they go on to report that he actually said...

"You've got to destroy before you're destroyed and I love to tackle. There's nothing better than defending for your life to keep a clean sheet. Thierry Henry is hard to stop and you've got to be on top of your game to stop him, but that's what we must do."

So, he says they have to try to destroy Arsenal or Arsenal will destroy them. Seems to me that there's more support for our fallatious headline, at least he actually used those words, in that order.

'Woody' goes on to say,

'We beat Zaragoza 4-0 and the atmosphere was so incredible I was out of breath. The crowd was going berserk and I was thinking f****** hell! I've never experienced anything like it. It was louder than Newcastle! But if Arsenal's young lads have b******s they won't hide, it will spur them on."

(I'm sure that our young lads have b*****ks, and some of their b****cks may even have dropped by now).

So anyway, Woodgate says stuff that makes it clear he sees Arsenal as anything but a walkover, but it doesn't fit Arsenal's current crisis club image so let's dress it up as Woodgate being all aggressively confident.

It's pathetic. I mean, Arsenal being a walkover is like sooooooo passé this month. Don't they know they're supposed to be making up salacious gay-love related footballer stories at the moment?

Woodgate will be particularly keen to impress the watching Sven Goran Eriksson. Doubts over Sol Campbell have raised the possibility of Woodgate making the England world cup squad.

Yes, well spotted. There's not a lot of Arsenal news this weekend. And all the news that we're expecting before Tuesday is some new injuries. So please accept my apologies in advance if I end up posting more b***ocks between now and then.
