Silly season officially starts tomorrow, now that the French championship is over. Here are the latest rumours concerning a few players who had been formerly linked with us :
Dacourt : As soon as the final whostle was blown in Lens, he announced his move to Leeds for £8.5 million.
Dalmat : Inter Milan bound last week. It is said today he' ll finally join PSG for a yet undisclosed fee.
Grenet : Nothing conclusive here. French press reported yesterday the solid 25 year-old defender/midfielder could join an English club and it could be Arsenal...
Micoud : The talented midfielder is said to have already signed with Parma for £4.5m, subject to medical.
Pires : Marseille after a 2 all draw at Sedan stay up thanks to a better goal-difference than first relegated team Nancy. Not sure in these conditions he' ll leave. Like many others, he' ll make public his decision before Euro2000... or is it after?
Trezeguet : MU have offered £12m to acquire him when Monaco (reluctantly) have put a £20m tag to let him go. He has already stated his wish to play in Italy and AC Milan or AS Roma are favourites to land him.
Wiltord : It has been widely reported he wants to leave Bordeaux when the board wants to keep him on the shores of La Gironde. PSG, MU, Arse and now Valencia are monitoring the situation. It' s pretty confused, but it appears he had signed for La Coruna for £1.8m and, should he leave before 2001, the Spanish club will get 40% of the difference. Prepare for a Wiltordgate this summer...
Meanwhile Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz said he was interested in signing one French player who is neither Zidane nor our own Manu Petit. |
