Marseille grabbed one well-deserved point at Lyon yesterday in a game played in windy conditions. Olympique de Marseille went to Gerland with a packed midfield which prevented Dhorasoo and (rather anonymous) Malbranque to create opportunities for their forwards and new recruit Stankovic proved if needed that Belgian RB Deflandre is Lyon' s weakest link. It must also be stressed that Edmilson was suspended.
The first half was mainly in favor of the away side but as soon as the second period started Marlet hit the post. Like at Guingamp four days before, one valid goal against Lyon was disallowed and they scored on the break : Marlet was brought down in the box and Anderson scored the penalty. Fifteen minutes from time Leroy levelled the score with some luck after good work from Stankovic on the left wing.
Team : Coupet - Deflandre, Müller, Bréchet, Delmotte - Dhorasoo, Foé, Linarès (Govou, 84), Malbranque (Laigle, 71) - Marlet, Anderson
Subs not used : Hughes (GK), Caçapa, Violeau
Next step : Coupe de France 5(?)th round on Friday against AS Saint-Etienne who finally have been docked 6 points because of players fake passports. This game originally scheduled next Saturday has been brought forward to allow Les Gones more rest ahead of the Arsenal clash. Sonny Anderson after the game made it clear that the succession of matches of late is taking its toll. |
