Robert Pires has come into a nice little
bonus today, as a hearing ordered Olympique Marseilles to
pay him 12.4 million francs (about £1.2 million).
When Marseilles sold Pires to Arsenal, he was according to his contract there entitled to a 10million franc pay-off, plus a
percentage of the money Arsenal paid to the French club.
OM claimed that the contract in question had been invalidated
by a subsequent agreement, but the French League's disciplinary committee rules that Pires was in the right.
They weren't enormously impressed with either side though,
and fined both for the secretive way the contract was signed.
Now, where's Pires going to find the cash to pay the 5000 franc fine? |
