While there's a football holiday in most of Europe, the African World Cup qualifiers are up and running. In group B, Liberia beat Nigeria 2-1 at home. Liberia's goals were both scored by Christopher Wreh and Nigeria's single effort was scored by Kanu. A group table and a short report can be found at AFCi. By news agency AFP, Wreh is interestingly described as 'former' Arsenal player, but AFCi rightly still call him 'Gunners striker'. As for Nigeria, their preparations for the match was 'haphazard', according to AFP. Players showed up late, and several weren't fit in the middle of the European summer break. Furthermore, the Super Eagles were evicted from their hotel due to unpaid bills, and failed to organise transport to the training pitch.
