The Nigerian football association (NFA) will plead with Arsenal to release Kanu for the Sydney Olympics, AFP reports. "We will meet with officials of Arsenal and make them see why Kanu should play for his country in Sydney," NFA secretary general Tijjani Yusuf said. But the underlying threat is evident. "I believe we don't have to ask FIFA to intervene. We would prefer to talk man-to-man." Arsenal Arsène Wenger has said he would refuse
to release Kanu for the Olympics, insisting the club need him for the early stages of the new season. More at Ananova.
