Compared with the Kanu situation, where's it hard to avoid coming across new accusations and nuggets of fascinating info about the NFA, the case of Lauren's Olympic call-up has been very hard to investigate.
No-one seems to be talking about it (except the many ArseWeb readers who keeps asking us).
Although I've seen nothing totally conclusive, everything I have seen has said that he has been called up and will be going. But usually it's just a throwaway line in a report about something else. I guess it's just not big news, seeing as he hasn't established himself in the Arsenal team yet.
Lauren is young enough to fall within the U23 requirement (by 18 days), so Arsenal would not have been on such strong ground if they had refused to release him, as they were in Kanu's case.
Cameroun's preparations got a boost at the weekend when they beat a Man Utd reserve side 4-0. It was a young, home-based Cameroun team, with overseas players such as Lauren expected to join the squad later. The United side included Bosnich (who may be going to the Olympics as an overage plkayer) and Quinton Fortune (going with South Africa). See AllAfrica.com's report, including one of those throwaway lines about Lauren).
