Arsenal's Lauren was involved again as Cameroon got a draw against the United States, to top Group C in the first stage of the Olympic football competition.
On 16 minutes, Lauren was fouled in the penalty area by MLS star Jeff Agoos, conceding a penalty which Mboma banged in. The US equalised through Pete Vagenas, again from the penalty spot, midway through the second half.
Cameroon's next game will be on Tuesday against the Czech Republic, currently bottom of the group. They still need a result to guarantee their place in the top two of the group, and go through to round two.
Better news for the Kanu-less Nigeria - they ended Australia's medal hopes, beating the hosts 3-2. |
