For their second friendly game within three days, boss Lemerre decided to line up Sylvain Wiltord and Anelka upfront. SW13 was rather anonymous before he was replaced at half-time by Thierry Henry who played the second half more like a left-winger than a centre-forward. Vieira as usual patrolled the midfield when former Gunner Manu Petit came on fifteen minutes from time on for Djetou.
NA9 had a valid goal disallowed but what the French players will vividly recall of the South-African trip is their meet-up with Nelson Mandela. |
