According to MLSnet in the US, Arsenal left-back Silvinho is one of several
european-based players selected for the Brazil squad for a 2-game
trip to North America in a couple of weeks.
The match against the United States, on March 3rd, clashes
with our home league game against West Ham. And the match
against Mexico, on March 7th, would rule him out of the
crucial home game against Spartak Moscow in the Champions
League.
Silvinho's selection is confirmed by the official national team site, who also reckon
he'll be in the starting line-up against the US. See also
this page for the full 18-man squad (no, Edu's not in it).
It seems unlikely that Arsenal would let him go on
a long trip for 2 friendlies, so soon after injury (he played for the reserves on Monday but is still not fully match fit), when we have such important games back in London.
Thanks to Lawrence for the tip-off.
