A brief summary of Arsenal players in national team action over the last week:
- France
- Nicolas Anelka - played in the 0-0 home draw with Ukraine
and in the 2-0 home win vs Armenia, setting up the 1st
goal.
- Emmanuel Petit - played in the Ukraine game, but suffered
a dead leg in the 2nd half which ruled him out of the
Armenia match.
- Patrick Vieira - took Petit's place in midfield in the
Armenia match, winning the ball and playing the pass to
Anelka for the first goal.
- Holland vs Argentina friendly
- Dennis Bergkamp, Marc Overmars and Nelson Vivas all
started in the rather bad-tempered 1-1 draw.
- Sweden
- Fredrik Ljungberg played in both of Sweden's matches,
the 2-0 home win over Luxemburg and the 1-0 win in P Poland, scoring the goal in the latter after a solo run.
- England
- David Seaman and Martin Keown both started the 3-1 win
over Poland at Wembley on Saturday. If you ignore the
goalscorer Keown was the man of the match in my opinion.
- Ray Parlour won a long overdue first cap, coming on as
a substitute in the 2nd half.
